Manikarnika: Kangana Ranaut Won't Apologise To Karni Sena
Actress Kangana Ranaut, star of tomorrow's big release Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, refused to apologise to Rajput fringe outfit Karni Sena for saying she'll 'destroy them' if they opposed the release of her film, reports news agency IANS. A spokesperson of the Karni Sena said that they never protested against the release of Manikarnika and that the name of their group was misused in the controversy. They also demanded an apology for the strong statement but Kangana told IANS: "I will not apologise to anybody. I have never apologised whenever I haven't made a mistake. We have promised that we haven't shown anything wrong about Rani Laxmi Bai in the film so, they should support us." "Rani Laxmi Bai is not my relative and I feel she is daughter of the entire country so, we all should support the film. Rajput Karni Sena should not play their ego card with me because I am not here to say sorry to anyone," she added.

Kangana Interact With Media During Promotion For "Mankikarnika"
Kangana Ranaut, who stars in this Friday's Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, feels that there are people (in the film industry) who are "waiting for her to fail," reports news agency PTI. Speaking at an event to promote Manikarnika, in which she plays the role of Rani Laxmi Bai, Kangana told PTI: "I do feel there are people waiting for me to fail. That there are people who are waiting to prove to themselves that she's not a real deal, to make themselves feel better. My failure is important to them." The 31-year-old actress added that she can never be like that towards her colleagues. Kangana Ranaut has starred in critically-acclaimed films like Queen and the Tanu Weds Manu series. However, her last two films Rangoon and Simran tanked at the box office. "Even though I can realise or feel, I can never be like them or feel through them. I understand their cynicism but I can never be them. Personally, I've never waited for anyone to fail. That's why I think I could do what I did in my life... That inherent positivity that I have. I praise everyone regardless of who they are or what they think of me is actually something I live by. I'm not a double faced person. What others feel I'm not concerned about that," she added.

Uri Success Party:
Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam and director Aditya Dhar are reveling in the success of their film Uri: The Surgical Strike. Crossing over Rs. 45 crore, Uri is the first hit of 2019. It has exceeded everyone's expectations at the box office and has been very well received by audiences. Celebrating the success of Uri, the team, Vicky, Yami and Aditya wore 'How's the josh' sweatshirts to Uri's success bash. Celebs Radhika Apte, Farah Khan, Raazi actor Shishir Sharma, Radhika Madan also made it to the bash. See pictures! Vicky and Yami's josh is definitely high due to the success of Uri. Both the actors have been praised for their performances. Vicky continues on his roll of dishing out amazing performances in every movie he opts. Yami was seen as an intelligence officer in the film, and she left everyone wishing she had had more screen time. Director Aditya Dhar points to how high Vicky's josh is as they pose for shutterbugs at the success bash. Aditya has been praised for his directorial skill in Uri. In an interview with Telegraph India, Aditya said about the success of Uri, "It feels really nice. When we were making the film, we knew the reactions would be decent, but we hadn't anticipated a magnitude of this kind. It's been three days since the film released and the reactions have been overwhelming, to say the least."

Bombairiya Movie Review:
Cast: Radhika Apte, Siddhanth Kapoor, Adil Hussain, Ravi Kishan, Akshay Oberoi Director: Pia Sukanya Rating: 1 star (out of 5) For a movie that gallops at a fair clip, first-time director Pia Sukanya's Bombairiya is extraordinarily inert. It strives for deadpan humour but falls way short, leaving the audience at the receiving end of a tedious, scrappy, patience-trying guessing game. Bombairiya has bomb written all over it. One of its principal props, among other daft diversions, is indeed a parcel bomb. It's in the possession of an angadia (delivery boy), played by Siddhanth Kapoor with wide-eyed amazement (absolutely understandable!), who rides a pink scooter. He dons a helmet of the same hue. But he is no panther, pink or otherwise. He is a scalded cat trapped in a cul-de-sac. The guy is on the run from a bloodthirsty cop. (Image courtesy: Instagram) A bunch of many such oddballs and their mystifying escapades lie at the pulpy heart of Bombairiya. But the film also has a message to deliver about the urgent need for witness protection. We keep hearing of a star witness who's got to be kept out of harm's way, but there's no clarity on the nature of the criminal case that is about to come up for hearing in a court except for stray hints about a missing cop and his dead wife and daughter. Logic never shows up to throw more light on the goings-on and dispel the haze. The film opens in a dark, dank room where a morose, ageing bomb-maker is at work. The man scribbles a letter addressed to a person whose identity we have no way of knowing and then proceeds to put together an explosive device that we can, with a bit of effort, figure out is meant for a predetermined target. Soon enough, the old man ends up dead. The convoluted story flits from one thing to another so flightily that it is impossible to focus on any of its multiple characters and plot strands. It is only in the second half that feeble attempts are made to explain the inchoate flurry of scenes that kicks off the proceedings, but given the tangled mess it creates no amount of elucidation can help the film crawl out of its trough. The courier guy gets into a kerfuffle with a short-fused public relations girl (Radhika Apte). In the melee, he snatches the lady's mobile phone and scoots. The handset, as it transpires, has a video that could cast a shadow on the career of a hard-drinking movie superstar (Ravi Kishan) who is due to spend time with a fan who has won a lunchtime FM radio show prize. The sozzled actor flees a shoot in his van and resurfaces on a paddle boat in a serene pond sipping whisky. The harried PR woman, who, when we first see her, tries to send a standee up in flames only to be chased by a group of urchins, has another major irritant to deal with: a wannabe superhero (Akshay Oberoi) who is on the way to a bistro to meet the girl that his parents want him to marry and but gets held for reasons beyond his control. Before he eventually makes it to the family get-together, he buys himself a change of shirt and a fedora to make the right impression. It is a Tex-Mex joint, and he is offered a sombrero. But our Topi-man sticks to the hat of his choice. There is, however, no cap on the unbridled mayhem that unfolds on the screen. The film is trying to tell us how chaotic a city Mumbai is and how many idiots the teeming metropolis has per square foot. In the process, it actually goes well beyond its avowed ambition. It is as much of an unintelligible jumble as any that the onscreen characters can trigger. Bombairiya never lets you wrap your head around it and that is clearly wholly unintentional. The makers have no inkling what they are after. Neither does the audience. There are a whole lot of clueless characters here, each as incomprehensible as the other. A politician (Adil Hussain) cools his heels in a VIP prison cell but is constantly on a phone barking orders. At the other end of the line is an encounter specialist (Amit Sial). A police chief (Ajinkya Deo) steps in once in a while but never comes close to restoring order. There is also a lady (Shilpa Shukla), who is both a media entrepreneur and a politician intent on giving the incriminating video a quiet burial. With all of them working at cross-purposes in a hopelessly purposeless screenplay, the result is an absolute riot but not of the kind that comedies usually aim to be. Bombairiya strives to be a cross between Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron and the better Priyadarshan laugh riots, but possesses neither the inventiveness of the former nor the inspired lunacy of the latter. It crams into its 108 minutes every cliché under the Mumbai sky - bumbling cops, smarmy politicos, a womanizing superstar and his hangers-on, a terror suspect, a comic book-obsessed mamma's boy, shenanigans of the media industry, a sharpshooter at large and sundry members of the underworld, all pulling in different directions.

Vinaya Vidheya Rama Movie Review
Mega Powerstar Ram Charan‘s much-awaited mass entertainer Vinaya Vidheya Rama has hit the theatres today. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the movie stars Kiara Advani, Vivek Oberoi and Prashanth in vital roles. The movie is about an orphan boy named Rama Konidella (Ram Charan), and four other orphans. His brother Prasanth, who is an Election Officer in Bihar, is kidnapped for ransom by the villain Vivek Oberoi. How Ram rescues his brother and destroys the criminal empire form the rest of the story. Other than that, there is nothing special in the storyline of the film. The chemistry between Ram Charan and Kirara Advani was worked well and impressive. Overall, the film is completely a power-packed entertainment with difficult stunts that Ram Charan has pulled off. By now, they have worked together for nearly 6 years, which is enough to analyse one's strength and weakness in their craft. Even after working together for half a decade, Ajith and Siva don't seem to have understood each other's work style or the audience's pulse." Produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, the movie is said to have released in over 1000 screens across the globe.

'NTR Kathanayakudu' review
NTR Kathanayakudu is a mixed bag, depending on which kaleidoscope you choose to watch the movie through. As a documentation of a great man's life, someone adored and revered, the movie ticks a lot of boxes. As a pure cinematic experience, the movie doesn't quite wrench your heart and neither does it have the goosebumps-evoking drama that anyone who has read or heard about NTR's life would come to expect. It feels like director Krish was equally conflicted - to show the man who would become god, or to show the god who was at one point, just a common man? The movie begins with NTR (Balakrishna) resigning from the Sub-Registrar office, tired of the corruption. His wife Basavatarakam (Vidya Balan) is adoringly encouraging when he wants to leave for Madras, to take up an invitation he had received from LV Prasad (Jisshu Sengupta is a scene-stealer), who mentors him to an extent. His first offer is from Subbarao. But neither HM Reddy nor Subbarao manage to keep their original word, due to bad finances, leading him to leave Madras in a fit, only for his good-samaritan attitude to stop him from boarding the train in a stroke of luck. Nevertheless, what stands out is his discipline and sense of self-esteem, qualities that make him the celestial figure he became eventually. He gets a brilliant offer from Nagi Reddy and lands a role as Thota Ramudu in Pataala Bhairavi, largely because of KV Reddy's obdurate belief in him. And the first real superstar in Telugu cinema is born or in GV Reddy's words, "the real first superstar on an Indian screen is born". NTR Kathanayakudu, the movie, blends two interesting dimensions of his charismatic persona - his love for cinema exceeded only by his love for the people, without discrimination. The movie highlights his role in collecting funds for the Rayalaseema famine. His passion and self-respect see him script a victorious path as an employee of Vijaya Vahini Studios. Much to Chakrapani and Nagi Reddy's chagrin, NTR bags the role of Krishna, probably the high point of the movie, introducing audiences to the times when NTR was viewed as an avatar himself. The movie also exults in Rama Rao's role in bringing alive the story of Ravana in Bhookailash (he had to stand unmoving for 20 hours so the ten heads could appear one by one on screen, a first of sorts for Indian cinema). NTR's professionalism shines through when he finishes a shooting (an unflinching attitude of taking everyone along and putting others first) despite the news of the loss of his son. The second half sows seeds for highlighting NTR, the national leader. It also picks up pace and builds several layers into the story. There is NTR, putting his fans and movies ahead of his life, during the Emergency, carrying his own movie prints to the distributors during curfew. There is the great NTR-ANR bromance, Sumanth doing really well to bring the camaraderie alive, especially the initiative of NTR ANR fund for cyclone relief, and the stern pride-driven decision to make Hyderabad the new home to Telugu cinema. There is NTR, the visionary who creates Dana Veera Soora Karna, playing three roles, while producing and directing the movie (as an answer to the challenge posed by younger stars like Krishna). There is a constant side-track, the bond between NTR and his younger brother, and producer for a lot of his movies, Trivikrama Rao. It also introduces the domestic dissatisfaction in NTR's family for Yamagola, for acting with a much younger woman actor. There is Harikrishna (Kalyan Ram) who pretty much follows NTR like a shadow. There are two ways of looking at the movie. One can't help but get nostalgic as the narrative gives a hat-tip, one by one, to the greats of Telugu cinema. From the long collars, aviators and bell-bottoms to hit movie references, the film gives NTR fans a walk down the memory lane. Balakrishna's uncanny resemblance in several shots, especially as the older NTR contemplating his entry into politics, not to mention in several roles like in Bobbili Puli and Vetagadu, makes the second half exhilarating. However, though he fits the bill perfectly in the latter half of the movie where NTR has matured as a statesman and has become a leader of the masses, for a fan, it is hard to really enjoy the early NTR film-career as enacted by Balakrishna. This, despite the obvious effort that has gone into it. It would have helped if the soundtrack had given us a little more than a layer of cottoned elevation hidden behind - like everything else - the intention to show how a mortal became a demigod. Comparisons to another biopic, Mahanati are obvious, given the music that the earlier movie had delivered, tracks which stayed with us for a long time. The other aspect of the movie is the way it develops the perception of the actual NTR people remember, a leader cherished by the masses, a leader who was made God by the masses and who was willing to turn into a mere mortal again to enter into the dirty world of politics. Chandrababu Naidu (Rana) and YSR also get mentions. The movie ends at the inception of the Telugu Desam Party. Krish does a great job in picking the right moments in the life of a demigod. A soft touch with Savitri's scene, a humane touch with an old lady, a feminist touch with the way he encouraged women, a thought for the foundation of various schemes he later envisaged - the makers have ensured that NTR is shown in an otherworldly aura. Vidya Balan is understated but brilliant, and so are actors who play important roles in his life, e.g. his brother's. While the movie does a fair job, and emotional moments are aplenty, one wonders if this is the best way in which the great NTR could be portrayed. The documentation was perfect but one can be sure there was a lot more about the man than the legendary tales we have already heard about him. It is also very noticeable that the movie is an altruistic vision - barring the Emergency and the comments about all south Indians being Madrasis (not to mention the strong anti-Congress stand), the movie rarely treads away from being politically correct. Where NTR Kathanayakudu scores is in upholding what many lovers of nostalgia would expect from the movie - reel conversations, idiosyncrasies of greats like Chakrapani and GV Reddy, old sets, a lot of trivia. Unlike in Mahanati, NTR doesn't start with how the actor was created. He was already fully-made! The director's constraints while making a movie on a figure like NTR with his own son playing the lead, and with even the politics and history of the state at stake, are obvious. These aren't exactly shortcomings but they stop the movie from developing a flair like Mahanati had. One needs to laud the art-direction/make-up/costumes for reproducing the period of NTR's stardom beautifully though. For true-blue NTR fans, the first part of this biopic is still a treat, and builds up nicely into Mahanayakudu, which would probably move on from the reel to real, a socio-political thriller. Ranveer Singh-Sara Ali Khan film marches to Rs 100 crore
Rohit Shetty's Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan continues to roar at the box office. It earned Rs 20.72 crore on its opening day. The cop drama, which also stars Sara Ali Khan, witnessed a boost on its second day and made Rs 23.33 crore. It made Rs 31.02 crore on its third day, bringing its total collection to Rs 75.11 crore. The film is expected to have made Rs 28 crore on the fourth day, and cross Rs 100 crore. Ranveer has received rave reviews for his performance, as always. It has been quite an eventful year for him, as he started the year with Padmaavat, which crossed Rs 300 crore at the box office. MOVIE REVIEW: SIMMBA An official remake of the Telugu hit Temper, Simmba is the tale of a dishonest cop named Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer), who falls in love with Shagun (Sara), who runs a catering service near his police station. Everything is hunkydory, until the woman he considers his younger sister, 19-year-old medical student Aakruti Dave, gets brutally raped and killed. Simmba, which features Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and the team of Golmaal - Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Arshad Warsi - in special appearances, has already nudged out last week's release, Aanand L Rai's Zero. The film is expected to continue its winning streak, as there is no big Bollywood release until January 11.

Vishal to get married to a Hyderabad girl
It was earlier rumored that actor Vishal, who is the president of the Tamil Film Producers Council and secretary of Nadigar Sangam, is all set to tie the knot with actress Varalaxmi. However, in separate interviews, both Vishal and Varalaxmi have revealed that they are not in a relationship but are just friends. Varalaxmi said that Vishal is a close friend and said they are not going to get married. Vishal, on the other hand, said Varalaxmi is someone close to his heart but they are not in love. Now, Vishal's father GK Reddy, a popular producer, has spilled beans about Vishal's marriage. Talking to a Tamil daily, Vishal's dad said that the family has chosen a bride for the actor. The girl is from Hyderabad and they are now busy with fixing a date for the engagement. Vishal earlier promised that he will get married only after building the office of Nadigar Sangam. The building work is currently on the final stage and it would be wrapped up by March 2019. ALSO READ: Did Vishal threaten Sri Reddy for exposing casting couch in Kollywood? Kareena, Rani, Hrithik in viral pic from Mujhse Dosti Karoge sets
Before Neil Nitin Mukesh made it to the big screen with films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and New York, the actor was learning filmmaking as an assistant director. The actor assisted Kunal Kohli in 2002 blockbuster Mujhse Dosti Karoge. In a viral photo from Mujhse Dosti Karoge sets, the actor can be seen with the star cast of the film - Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rani Mukherjee, and Hrithik Roshan.

Rani Mukerji torn apart on social media for #MeToo stance
The #MeToo movement raged across India in October and sexual harassers from different fields. Much to everyone's surprise, Bollywood was not spared. Many celebrities like Rajat Kapoor, Vikas Bahl, Nana Patekar and Sajid Khan came under fire for inappropriate behaviour with women, and were asked to step away from their films. Recently, during a recent interview, prominent actresses like Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt, Tabu, Rani Mukerji and Taapsee Pannu expressed their opinions on the movement. While Deepika, Alia, Anushka and Taapsee were on the same page, Rani had different ideas. "You have to have the courage to protect yourselves," she said. Deepika cut in said, "There are women who are not constructed like that. They feel cornered." Rani replied, "Those are the women we need to talk to, and tell them that they need to change themselves." Anushka pointed out that it is bringing the responsibility back to women, rather than men changing. Rani added that self-defence was necessary and that learning martial arts should become part of a school schedule. She said it was important for girls to learn how to protect themselves. Deepika asked, "Why even bring it to a point where girls should learn self-defence?" Rani's views have been torn apart on the internet. Here are some of the reactions. The expressions of the other women on the roundtable, when Rani Mukherjee launched into her stupid diatribe against the #MeToo movement, say it all. pic.twitter.com/P7jIsZIVnr Aniruddha Guha (@AniGuha) December 30, 2018

Shah Rukh Khan's Film Witnesses 'Big Drop' Post Christmas Holiday
Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma's Zero witnessed a "big drop" in its collection on Wednesday (Day 6), a Box Office India report stated. The Aanand L Rai-directed film garnered Rs. 4.5 crore (nett) on Day 6, pushing its grand total to Rs. 85.82 crore, the report added. "Zero took a big hit on day six post the Christmas holiday as it collected Rs. 4.50 crore (nett) approximately. The drop is over 50% from Monday and it means the film will struggle from here on," the Box Office India report stated. Zero had raked in Rs. 12.75 crore on Christmas holiday but its collections went down drastically thereafter. "The film will struggle in its second week as Day 6 is at low levels and it will be Friday which will tell where the film is going," the report added. Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of a vertically challenged man in Zero while Anushka Sharma plays a specially-abled scientist named Aafia. Katrina Kaif plays the role of a superstar named Babita Kumari. Zero mostly opened to lukewarm reviews with praises for Shah Rukh Khan's performance. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee in his review for NDTV gave Zero 2 stars out of 5. "Shah Rukh Khan cannot be faulted. He gives his hundred per cent to liven up Zero, but for a film running on empty that is only a zero-sum game. Anushka Sharma contorts her face and angles her lips to deliver her lines - Full marks to her for effort. Katrina, who inevitably makes her entry with an item number, tries her best to convey the angst of a public figure whose life is a series of mishaps," he wrote. Rohit Shetty's Simmba is all set to hit the screens this Friday and it will be interesting to witness if Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan's film effects Zero's box office collection.
